The Pacific Fruit Express (PFE) was formed jointly by Union Pacific and Southern Pacific in 1906 to supply the railroads with cars to haul fresh produce from the west coast to eastern markets. In 1950, PFE was operating over 38,000 of these reefers! Operated in solid trains or on the 'head end' of crack passenger trains across the nation, many of these cars served into the 1970's.

Is this the correct photo for this listing? I have the pfe set of 6 yellow reefers? Was this a four pack set of brown cars.

K762-2122A - SCALE, UP & SP Pacific Fruit Express Reefer 4-PAK contains 4 yellow reefers, not brown. Set contains K762-21222, 21224 (confirmed) and PROBABLY 21223 and 21225 (but UNconfirmed at this time)
