These red, white and blue cars were created by K-Line artist, Dennis Gergel Jr. The road number for George Washington's car, 178997, comes from the years of his presidential service 1789-1797. It is a vat car for transporting preserved cherries because we all know about young George and the cherry tree! The actual "preserved cherries" graphic comes from a Heinz car. The road number for the Abraham Lincoln vat is 186165, because of his presidential term, 1861-1865. Honest Abe was born in a log cabin in Kentucky, but he is more associated with Springfield, Illinios so that is why it is printed on the car. Jeff Cohen came up with the numbering system for these 2 cars. Nick Ladd contributed the idea for the Lincoln vat to be transporting a tonic. We were afraid to use Log Cabin Syrup as the load, as we needed to keep these imaginary products.
