New Haven Railroad

In 1950, a little over 29 percent of the gross revenue on the New Haven came from passenger service. Only LIRR and Pennsylvania Reading had higher percentages. Over 80 percent of that revenue came from the Shore Line where trains traveled from New York to Boston in four hours. These stainless clad cars were ordered from Pullman Standard after World War II. A total of 207 cars were assembled at Pullman Standard's Chicago plant. The original paint was a hunter green window stripe and roof, however, these cars were repainted in the McGinnis era with a 'McGinnis orange' window stripe and black roof.

In addition to the passenger cars with a matching Express Service Boxcar, a smoking caboose is available for a New Haven freight consist.
